Micro Cosmos
The series of collages and pastel drawings in Micro Cosmos explores the relationship between the human being and the universe through the idea of the individual as a microcosm that mirrors the structure and principles of the larger cosmos. In these works, the smallest units of existence—cells, particles, and primordial elements—become symbols of the profound connection between inner reality and the material universe. Visual forms often resemble both biological cells and cosmic bodies, creating intentional ambiguity: the viewer may not be certain whether they are observing microscopic life or distant planets. This duality highlights the idea that the same principles shape both the living body and the universe itself.
An additional exploration within this series appears in three collage-on-canvas works—Cosmo, Volcano, and Elements of the Cosmos. Cosmo is composed in such a way that the image reads simultaneously as a smiling face and as a constellation of elemental or cosmic objects, a playful ambiguity echoed in some pastel drawings. Volcano shifts into a pop-art language, incorporating a cartoon-like scene with a character, yet still embedding planets and cosmic elements that tie it to the project’s conceptual direction. Elements of the Cosmos align intellectually with the other collages but is executed entirely with airbrush on canvas, making it a transitional work: it bridges the techniques of Micro Cosmos with those that will appear in the painted series of Macro Cosmos.
The collages throughout Micro Cosmos reference elemental particles such as hydrogen, helium, and the early compound HeH⁺, evoking the universe’s earliest moments while also pointing inward, toward the foundations of our own being. Through abstract, layered imagery, the series becomes a visual meditation on internal landscapes—records of introspective journeys where the intimate and the infinite converge. The viewer is invited to recognize a fragment of the universe within themselves, discovering how the vastness of the cosmos and the hidden architecture of the body reflect one another.
