Oases & Myths


In seeking to define modern artistic creation more closely, beyond the frameworks of realism and abstraction, we must also consider its role in liberating the spirit and creating mental harmony, reconciling humankind with itself and the cosmos. Ennobled by an awareness of the inscrutability of absolute truth, the artist perceives symbols emerging from humanity’s ephemeral existence, while continuously generating new signs and metaphors. As Paul Cézanne recognised, the visual sign itself holds aesthetic value, opening the way for a renewed relationship between sign, time and space.

The works of Vukašin Delević, executed in acrylic using the airbrush technique and titled Oases and Myths, reveal a strong imaginative force that mediates between the inner world and external reality. Through sensory metaphors such as light, mist, warmth and movement, these compositions evoke symbolic spaces of life, freedom and joy. Here, every space becomes a plastic space and every event a poetic one, inviting the viewer into a contemplative and transformative visual experience.

Entering this mystical world, we encounter landscapes of deep waters, distant horizons and luminous skies, where silence, shadow and colour dissolve familiar boundaries. Fluid and amoeboid forms, punctuated by surreal lights and distant nebulae, give rise to figures drawn from mythology and religion. In this space, the poetics of abstraction emerges clearly as a metaphysical language of light, form and colour, guiding perception beyond the visible.
